As luck would have it, we visited Canada, (a trip we had been trying to make for a few years now) over their summer “Canada 150” years celebrations. It was an incredible time to visit some of Canada’s major cities. There were celebrations and special events most days and nights.
In between the major cities we enjoyed the incredible Canadian countryside, I shared those photos on this earlier post- Canada road trip – Cottage Country and Algonquin Provincial Park.
The fairytale-like cities were all spruced up in their “fancy dress” for the celebrations. There were loads of activities for the kids, some especially put on for the celebration and others that are there year round. We found that Canada takes full advantage of their summer weather with outdoor shows, al fresco dining and festivals.
Beavers Tails are quite unique to the Quebec area, and are hard to describe. It’s a bit like a squashed flat donut (with no hole in the middle) so it looks like a beavers tail, then same as a donut, it is covered in toppings from Nutella to cinnamon sugar or apple puree. Beaver Tail outlets were always busy with a queue of people waiting for their sweet treat.
Our trip was amazing and sometimes exhausting but the best possible reset button before coming home and starting afresh with work and new school terms.
